LOUIS VAN GAAL RETIRES FROM FOOTBALL

Former Manchester United, Ajax, Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Netherlands national team manager Louis Van Gaal has announced his retirement from football citing family reasons.

The decision came amid reports that the 65 year old was approached by an Asian club offering a £11m/year contract.

Van Gaal had been out of work since his dismissal at Manchester United in May, 2016.

“I thought maybe I would stop, then I thought it would be a sabbatical, but now I do not think I will return to coaching,” Van Gaal was quoted as saying in Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf.

“I could go there, but I’m still here,” Van Gaal said about the offer from Asia. “So much has happened in my family.”
