Barcelona have chosen their replacement for manager Luis Enrique , club vice-president Jordi Mestre has revealed.
Athletic Bilbao boss Ernesto Valverde is considered the strong favourite for the role followed by Enrique’s current assistant Juan Carlos Unzue.
Everton boss Ronald Koeman, also along with the other two contenders a former Barca player, has also been connected to the job.
But the race for the job is over, says Mestre, who says an announcement is being delayed to allow Enrique to finish his job at the club.
“We have already chosen his replacement but we won’t communicate our decision right now out of respect for Luis Enrique,” Mestre said.
Enrique has three more games in charge of the Catalans before he steps down, two in La Liga against Las Palmas and Eibar, and finally the Copa del Rey final against Alaves on May 27.
