Current Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti reveals he “had a chat” with Liverpool in October 2015, but believes they “made the right choice” with Jurgen Klopp.
The revelation came ahead of the Merseyside Derby, as Ancelotti confessed his career – and the path of the current European and World club champions – could’ve been very different.
“I had a chat, after Real Madrid, with the Liverpool owners,” said the Italian.
“They were looking for a new manager, but I think they made the right choice with Jurgen. He is doing fantastic work in Liverpool. He has created a fantastic team and fantastic players.”
At the time, Ancelotti had just left Real Madrid and was taking a year off, where he would resume work at Bayern Munich in the summer of 2016.
He was fired from the German club in September 2017 and accepted Napoli in July 2018.
Ancelotti was sacked by Napoli on December 10 and appointed manager of Everton just 12 days later.
