Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger insists the club will not cave in to Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez’s sky high wage demands. It is understood that the duo is demanding a £250,000 wage per week, which will make them the highest paid players in the club’s history.

Wenger said: “We have to keep that as quiet as possible and find an agreement.

“We have to respect our line of conduct that we always have.”

Wenger added: “It is important that we have stability in our squad and they are part of that. We are in the process with others.

“I think he has been a bit misinterpreted. I don’t think that is the main part of his decision.

“We always speak, I speak more with his agent on the contract than with him.

“Let’s not forget all these players have 18 months to go, that is a long time in football. I’m very relaxed.”
