Micheal Carrick hints that he will consider retirement if he is not offered a new deal at Manchester United at the end of this season.

Carrick, who has spent the last 11 years of his career at Old Trafford, will be out of contract at the end of this season.

“I’ve said for some time now, as long as I feel I can contribute enough that’s fine by me,” the 35 year old said.

“It almost depends on how long I’m here. I don’t think there’s many places I’d want to play, if any, after this anyway.”

Asked if that would be it if no extension was forthcoming, Carrick replied: “I probably would say so, yes. I think so. I couldn’t say definitely but pretty much.”

Manchester United have granted Carrick a testimonial match on June 4, in which Manchester United’s 2008 stars will reunite to face a Micheal Carrick all stars side featuring the stars like Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard and Micheal Owen.
