Jurgen Klopp has reportedly warned players that they may be moved out on loan or sold permanently if they do not learn the English language while at the club.
According to Liverpool’s former language tutor Alan Redmond, who was talking to ESPN, as cited on TEAMtalk, the Liverpool boss is very keen for any new foreign players to learn the lingo.
While Redmond stresses that for the most part, players often show a willingness and are keen to learn the language, he reveals that the rule has resulted in players being moved on in the past.
It’s hugely important. Ten times out of ten I find that the best players have an appetite to learn. I won’t name names, but I can think of seven or eight occasions where players turned up and you could see they had no interest in learning the language. Usually in the first or second transfer window they were out of there on loan or permanently.Images Sport
Given how multi-cultured the Premier League has become in recent years, it is not common to have several different languages spoken at any one given time at a club.
Liverpool boast players with South American and African backgrounds, while also having a number of English players.
