Manchester United have appointed a former police inspector as the full time counter terrorism manager.

The club says they are the first sports club in England to do so.

Security measures have been increased significantly at the club’s home-ground Old Trafford since the discovery of a fake bomb at the stadium which led to a postponement of Manchester United’s Premier League tie against Bournemouth last season.
