Victor Vazquez equalized with stoppage time penalty to help a shorthanded Toronto FC side overcome the early injury exit of Sebastian Giovinco and take a one-point lead in the Eastern Conference following a 2-2 draw with New York City FC on Wednesday night.

A scoreless draw against Minnesota United on Wednesday night dropped Houston to 0-7-3 on the road in 2017, while the Loons are winless in their last four and have gone 261 minutes – almost three full matches – without a goal.

The New York Red Bulls continued to ride a wave of momentum, taking out the San Jose Earthquakes 5-1 with great performances from Sacha Kljestan and Connor Lade.

Real Salt Lake cruised to a 4-1 road victory at Providence Park on Wednesday night after the match ended with three red cards, two for Portland and one for Salt Lake.
