Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has posted a classy tribute to Claudio Ranieri on Instagram, following the Italian’s dismissal as Leicester City manager.

Mourinho has often sparked controversies by making provocative statements aimed towards opposition managers but he was quick to lend his backing to Ranieri and reminded everyone of his mercurial feat at the club.

He wrote: “CHAMPION OF ENGLAND and FIFA MANAGER of THE YEAR.sacked. Thats the new football claudio.keep smiling AMICO.nobody can delete the history you wrote.”

After their quite extraordinary title win, Ranieri’s side have struggled in the 2016-17 season and find themselves in 17th place in the table with just five league wins from 25 matches.
