New York City FC star Andre Pirlo insists MLS is a very competitive league and advises those who “are looking for an easy ride” to stay away from the league.

“On the pitch it is serious, if someone is looking for an easy ride, they are in the wrong place, the 37-year-old told La Repubblica.

“Football here is growing steadily, it has already become the third sport after basketball and American football, with a high number of players including children and women.”

Pirlo’s New York City FC finished second in the Eastern Conference of last season’s MLS behind New York rivals Ney York Red Bulls.
