Inter Milan may have found a solution to their striker dilemma as reports suggest they are close to signing Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram. The 25-year-old has agreed to a five-year deal, with a €6m net annual salary, as a free agent. Thuram attracted interest from clubs like Paris Saint-Germain, RB Leipzig, and AC Milan but ultimately chose Inter, who are in need of at least two new strikers to replace Edin Dzeko and potentially Romelu Lukaku.

Thuram concluded the 2022/23 season with 16 goals and 7 assists in 32 appearances, including a personal best of 13 Bundesliga goals. He appears well-suited for Inter’s two-striker system. Although his finishing skills may not be his strongest asset, a partnership with Lautaro Martinez could prove challenging for rival defenses.
In addition to Thuram, Inter is reportedly close to signing Cesar Azpilicueta after he terminates his Chelsea contract. The 34-year-old will help fill the void left by Milan Skriniar in Inter’s defense. Azpilicueta may be joined by 22-year-old Yann Bisseck as the Nerazzurri’s defensive reinforcements, in a two-for-one replacement deal for Skriniar. These signings showcase Beppe Marotta’s expertise in the free-agent market; however, larger moves may be on hold due to the club’s ongoing financial uncertainty.
